As all companies should know making an unsolicited sales or marketing call to an individual on the TPS register, or a company, charity or organisation on the CTPS register is unlawful, if a complaint is made both the caller and company or orgainsation benefiting from the call could be liable to a £5000 fine.
Whether you are a Sole Trader, Company, Charity or Voluntary Organisation, before you are make an unsolicited Sales, Marketing or Promotional call you must check that the number that you are calling is not on either the TPS, or CTPS registers.
How do I screen?
There are a number of ways to screen your data, you can use a bulk checking service such as ADMAR OnLine, you can use a call blocking system which bolts on to your phone system, or you can use SpeediScreen the new Desktop utility from ADMAR.

Fact Finding and Market Research calls are also exempt from the legislation, but be careful that ‘Fact Finding’ is not a pretence for a selling call.
