Gone Away Suppression - Xpression File
The Xpression File (formally The National Suppression File NSF), was introduced by the Direct Marketing Association in March 2001.
The Xpression File combines the information currently found in the Royal Mail's National Change Of Address (NCOA) File, the Read Group's Gone Away Suppression (GAS) File Postal Returns and Acxiom's Purity Database.
Data is captured and updated quarterly from a variety of sources in direct marketing activity where an individual states that they now live at a new address.
The Xpression File, as the NSF, has been one of the UK's market leading suppression product for the last 5 years and identifies over 94% of all home movements.
The Xpression File holds details of movers from the past 2 years and contains approximately 12 million records. The Xpression file is made up of three different elements:-
- Part 'A' Assumed
- Part 'B' Blended
- Part 'C' Confirmed
Part A (Assumed) Postal Returns entries have been verified by the data suppliers who have confirmed that these are 'non responsive cells' following gone away returns received from a variety of different Direct marketing campaigns sent to the individual at that address.
Part B (Blended) Purity is distilled from Acxiom's Infobase Lifestyle Universe file, it combines accurate lifestyle databases, data such as the Electoral Register, Council Tax bandings, Census, CCJ'S Directors and Active Investor data and population density. Purity comprises 16.6 million questionnaire responders at their previous addresses identified as 'non-resident'; from the Infobase Lifestyle Universe file. A 'non resident' is identified through their transaction history across multiple sources of data consolidated from over 400 million consumer/transaction responses across 86 million individuals at given addresses into 26 million addresses.
Part C (Confirmed) The Notifications data is very accurate being compiled from NCOA (national change of address move out data from Royal Mail and part of The REaD Groups Gone Away Suppression File). By using this part of the data then you are only suppressing using very accurate information.
