Mailing Preference Service Screening
The Mailing Preference Service, or MPS Register is a directory of individuals who do not wish to receive 'unsolicited' or 'junk' mail. It is free for individuals to place their names on the register as the service is funded by those companies accessing the file and suppressing their mailing lists.
Until September 2007 you could register as a household, and indicate that no mail was to be sent to anyone in the home. However from 1st September all occupants within a house must register individually.
Any company, or organisation, can purchase a copy of the MPS register from the DMA. However, in addition to the annual MPS licence fee, accurately matching a mailing file against the MPS register requires a significant amount of technical expertise and resources.
Rather than invest and commit resources in-house ADMAR can take your data and match it against the MPS Register advising you of those individuals and households who do not wish to receive mail.
ADMAR use a range of bespoke complex in-house searching routines and all data is enhanced using the Royal mail's Postcode Address File (PAF) before screening to enhance match rates even further. Screening Options Available:
- ADMAR Bureau - any format - service via email
- ADMAR OnLine - check one-off numbers and upload files
NB: MPS is not a legal requirement like the TPS, CTPS and FPS however it is a requirement of the British Code of Advertising, Sales Promotion and Direct Marketing administered by the Advertising Standards Authority. It is also a condition under the Code of Practice of the Direct Marketing Association.
